Christmas Is the Day After Halloween

Christmas is the day after Halloween, and for the next 62 days, apparently, we are all legally obliged to get into the festive spirit.

The countdown begins on 1 November, the adverts roll in, and the shops transform overnight. It’s only briefly punctuated by Black Friday and Cyber Monday, when we can pause our Christmas shopping to do some more shopping.

Regardless of how or whether we celebrate, it’s rather difficult to escape the season. From gleeful television adverts and social media to shop windows and supermarket aisles, Christmas cheer is enthusiastically dispatched from every direction.

And so, with varying degrees of enthusiasm, we dive into party season. Sequins, glitter, questionable seasonal jumpers and an increasingly long shopping list. But that’s all part of the fun, isn’t it? The main thing is, it’s party time.

And with that comes the important question: who’s taking the photographs?

We’ve all mastered the selfie, of course. But it’s not quite the same as capturing the company Christmas party, the colleagues who’ve worked together all year finally letting their hair down, or Susan from Accounts dancing to It’s Raining Men as though she’s been personally waiting for this moment since January.

Some moments are perhaps best left undocumented. 😉

But for businesses across London, the Christmas party is a chance to bring people together, celebrate a year’s hard work and create memories beyond the office. Professional event photography in London captures the atmosphere, the team and those little moments that might otherwise disappear into the blur of the evening.

And Christmas isn’t just about the parties.

For families and friends scattered across different cities and countries, the annual Christmas card or Facebook post can be a lovely way to stay connected. London is a city full of people who’ve travelled far from home, built lives in new places and miss loved ones around the globe.

A family photograph, a portrait or a little update from the year can mean a great deal to someone thousands of miles away.

Photographs are that old time machine I mentioned in my Lost But Found blog. They take us back to people, places and moments that might otherwise fade with time. And sometimes, a photograph sent across the world is a little reminder that, wherever we happen to be, we’re still part of one another’s lives.

The Christmas party doesn’t always happen in December.

Of course, not every company can down tools in December. For those working flat out during the festive season, particularly in hospitality, the Christmas party might have to wait until January.

The decorations may be coming down, the mince pies might be reduced to 20p, and the rest of us may be contemplating a healthier lifestyle. But the hard-working people who kept everyone else fed, watered and entertained deserve their moment too.

Whether it’s December or January, a celebration is still a celebration. The people behind the scenes deserve a chance to let their hair down as well.

So, while the Christmas countdown might feel as though it starts earlier every year, there’s something rather lovely about having a reason to gather, celebrate and capture a few memories along the way.

Just remember to nominate a photographer before the sequins come out.

A few things worth remembering

Corporate celebrations deserve to be remembered

A Christmas party is more than a room full of people in questionable jumpers. It’s a chance to celebrate the year’s hard work, bring colleagues together and capture the people behind the business.

Photographs connect us

From company celebrations to family portraits sent across the world, photographs help us share moments with people who matter, wherever they happen to be.

Christmas parties don’t have an expiry date

December might be the busiest time of year for some industries. For those working in hospitality and events, January can be the perfect time to celebrate. The tinsel might be packed away, but there’s still plenty worth photographing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you photograph corporate Christmas parties in London?

Yes. Twiggles provides event photography for corporate celebrations, Christmas parties and business events in London. From candid moments on the dance floor to team photographs and the atmosphere of the evening, professional photography helps preserve the memories of your event.

When should we book a Christmas party photographer?

It’s worth enquiring as early as possible, as popular dates during the Christmas party season can book up quickly. If your event is in December or even January, get in touch to discuss availability and your photography requirements.

Can you photograph our company Christmas party in January?

Absolutely. Many businesses, particularly in hospitality, are busiest during December and celebrate once the festive rush has passed. A January party deserves photographs just as much as a December one.

What moments do you capture at a corporate Christmas party?

Event photography can include candid guest interactions, team photographs, speeches, staff awards, entertainment, dancing, decorations and the general atmosphere of the celebration. The aim is to tell the story of the event, including the little moments you might otherwise miss.

Can you take family portraits for Christmas cards?

Yes. Family portraits are a lovely way to create photographs for Christmas cards, social media updates and relatives living further afield. A photograph can be a meaningful way to share a little piece of family life with loved ones who cannot be there in person.

How do I enquire about Christmas event photography?

Get in touch through the Twiggles contact page and tell me a little about your event, including the date, venue and photography you’re looking for. We can discuss your requirements and work out the next steps.
